Most of these are close by, because we think that if there’s something good to see or do, why drive a long distance if you don’t have to. Best Non-Chain Restaurants with Kids
These places are an alternative to the chains. Easy to head over to Blowing Rock if you know where to go. Going to Boone you’ll find the usuals, but there are a few hidden gems that we like too.
FOGGY ROCK PUB - BLOWING ROCK
Pub/Restaurant with good food and wide menu. Salads, Sandwiches, Pizza.

Great for Salads (14 on the menu), Sandwiches, Families.

TOWN TAVERN - BLOWING ROCK
Sports Bar on Main Street Blowing Rock. Casual, Table Service.
Great for wings and watching a football game. Outdoor seating.

WOODLANDS BBQ- BLOWING ROCK
BBQ with all the fixins. Live music. Casual. Table Service.
Ask for a table upstairs where the music is played.
Great for families and live music (starts at 6pm nightly)

MELLOW MUSHROOM - BLOWING ROCK/BOONE
Pizza, Salads, Sandwiches. Table Service. During busy times, might consider the
Boone location which is much larger. Ok, maybe its getting big enough where
we might call this a chain, but its our kids’ favorite!
Great for families. Pizza.

Blowing Rock Grilled Cheese Cafe
I’ll be honest, we have not tried this yet, however I feel comfortable sending you
there to try it out and let us know what you think. Who doesn’t like grilled
cheese?!
