Checking In
Arrival: From the driveway enter from the door from the back deck (right side of the house).
Enter the Cabin: Enter the four digit code provided (this will be the same code to lock the door) on the Schlage Keypad. If you’re on the covered porch, go around to the other side to enter.
Internet: Wifi Network: Blowing Rock Cabin Password: BRCabin229
Water: If the water has been turned off. Go to the basement (across from main level bathroom) and above the water heater you’ll see the main water valve. Turn on the water on using the valve, you don’t need to turn it off when you leave, you can just leave it on
Heat: If the cabin is cool or cold, you can start turning on the thermostat for each room. For the ceramic heater in the living room, there is a knob on the lower right of the unit that you will turn clockwise to start the heat. Basement knobs are next to the electrical box. Others are in open areas for each room that you should be able to find. Cabin will heat up quickly, we usually will wait to turn on the upstairs heat since its typically 10 degrees warmer upstairs than down. Start by turning them to low, then increase as needed.
Space Heaters: - One located in the basement, and second located in the twin bedroom. Both will do a good job heating the room.
Extra Blankets: You will find extra blankets and pillows in the closet of each bedroom. If you need sheets or pillow cases, check the bottom drawers of the dressers.

Firewood: - There is a small supply of firewood to get you started. We’ve found a self-serve firewood supplier on Rt 321 North toward Boone just past Tweetsie Railroad on the right hand side. Honor system - Prices are noted. Drop money in the container, grab your wood and go. There is a green bin outside the basement door to help you get the wood from your car to the cabin.
Adirondack Chairs: We have these stacked under the porch for you to use around the fire. Please stack them again before you leave. We have more on order because four of them ended up in pieces across the street in the woods the last time we forgot to stack them and a big storm came thru!
Gas Grill: Enjoy the grill on the deck. Just be sure to turn off the propane at the tank, clean the grates and replace the cover when done using. If you notice gas is low or out, let us know and we’ll get a replacement. Please don’t leave it unattended.
Yard: Our property is pretty much the full yard, to the stone easement near the cabin below us. Its on a slight grade, but we’ve enjoyed tossing a ball around and letting the kids hang out and run around. Take advantage of it.

Water, Electric, and Heat
Electrical: - We’ve popped a breaker or two when running a bunch of things at the same time in the same area. Electrical box is located in the basement in the back right corner if you need to reset a breaker.
Hot Water: We’ve noticed that when running long showers, the hot water doesn’t last quite as long as we sometimes want, but it usually comes back quickly. Just keep it in mind. As for the well water, we’ve not had any problems with the amount of water as mentioned from the small signs above the sinks, but just be conscious. Bathrooms
Electric Heat The house has electric baseboard heating throughout. Each bedroom and the public areas have individual thermostats. Baseboard heating gets hot and take time to cook down, so please keep items safely away from the heaters. The living room has an additional ceramic heater, which heats up the living room very nicely. The knob is on the bottom right of the unit. This can get pretty warm to the touch, so please do not leave magazines or things that can melt on it. The thermostat on the wall near the kitchen operates the fan for the unit only, not the heating element.
Space Heaters: You’ll find one in the basement and one in the twin bedroom (there’s an outlet behind the dresser that should work well)
